Drake’s ‘Views’ Did Huge Numbers In Its First Week

Drake‘s Views is set to have the biggest sales week of the year, tepid reviews be damned. Industry projections had it pegged at an 850,000+ debut week, and now his label, Republic, claims in just six days it sold over a million copies in the US. That number includes pure sales and streaming equivalents, and if it stands it would crush Beyoncé‘s current 2016 high of 653,000 (485,000 pure album sales) for Lemonade in that album’s first week of release.

The label also says the album was streamed 200 million times in the US on Apple Music over the same span. To give that some context, Kanye West‘s The Life Of Pablo achieved a similar feat, notching a reported 250M streams in its first 10 days on Tidal.

Views is currently available exclusively through Apple Music/iTunes, but it will be available widely in physical and digital form starting tomorrow (May 6) and will go to all streaming services on May 13.
