A New Promo Pic & Festival Slot: Is Fergie’s Comeback Finally Happening?
Earlier today (May 11), a new promo pic of Fergie — the first of the Double Dutchess era — popped up on several gossip sites. (How flawless does she look?) That combined with an announcement that the Black Eyed Peas legend will headline this year’s Wireless Festival in London, gives me hope that her ten-years-in-the-making solo comeback is finally happening. After all, she’s unlikely to serenade festival-goers with a medley from The Dutchess and run.
According to rumors (and husband Josh Duhamel), the album should have arrived in March. It’s understandable that Fergie would take some time to regroup after the lukewarm reception of “L.A. Love,” but a year has passed since the DJ Mustard-produced banger peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 — which is actually quite impressive given the chart fortunes of fellow comeback queens Janet Jackson and Gwen Stefani. The Wireless Festival kicks off on July 8, so keep your fingers crossed for a June release.
