Sampha Releases New Soulful Gem “Timmy’s Prayer”: Listen

Sampha – known for his signature broody vocals and collaborations with the likes of SBTRKT, Kanye West and Drake – has released a new song called “Timmy’s Prayer.”

His first solo single since his 2013 EP Dual, the UK soulster truly has outdone himself on this one. The song starts off as a tender ballad with Sampha singing love-sick lyrics against a slow, steady drum beat. “If ever you’re listening/ If heaven’s a prison/ Then I am your prisoner/ Yes, I am your prisoner.”

But about half-way through, the track flourishes into an ethereal electronic number, as Sampha feverishly belts: “Dreaming/ Surely you will find me by the shore/ I’m singing so blindly/ Can you hear me, can you find me?”

Recently, the singer also took to Twitter to reveal that new music is, indeed, on the way.

“I’ve had a lot to process these past couple of years, as we all do,” he said. “It’s hard to articulate at times. I wanted to say thank you to all the people who’ve shown me love and support. I’m looking forward to sharing my music with you again.”
