Yeezus Just Rose Again: Kanye West Lectures ‘Ellen’ Audience On His Desire To Help Humanity

Kanye West stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in what is already being called his “Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch” moment. Considering he’s had a career of those types of moments, that’s saying something.

To be honest, though, it wasn’t anything more outlandish than any of his Yeezus-era “rants.” I guess it’s the daytime chat setting that sets this one apart. He started out talking about the prospect of having more kids (“I’m fine with just practice”) and the utility of having a team to filter his thoughts before he tweets them (he says he regrets nothing he’s ever tweeted). But it soon took a turn into one of West’s unpredictable stream-of-consciousness speeches, as he revisited his talking points about his desire to help humanity through artistry and to become the “Michael Jackson of apparel,” which would, among other things, help him end bullying.

After this eight-minute lecture, they returned from commercial and in a surreal 180 he played Ellen’s “5 Second Rule” game. Presented without context: “Balls, balls, balls.”
