Last night’s (May 22) Billboard Music Awards telecast packed plenty of action, but overall it took a ratings dip compared to recent years. The show racked up 8.9 million viewers and a 2.9 demo rating total for ABC, per TV Line, dropping 20 and 24 percent, respectively, from last year. It marked a four-year low for the BBMAs. (The 2012 airing drew 7.4 million viewers and a 2.7 demo rating.)

Still, the award show managed to win the night by besting NBC’s Carmichael Show, CBS’ Undercover Boss and Fox’s Bordertown and Bob’s Burgers.

Highlights from last night’s Billboard shindig included Britney Spears‘ dancing through a tightly-choreographed hits medley, and emotional performance from Kesha and Ben Folds and Madonna and Stevie Wonder‘s tribute to Prince.
