In Case You Missed It: Ameriie Released A New EP & It’s Good

In case you missed it, Ameriie released a surprise EP on Friday (May 20). And it’s well worth a listen. The 36-year-old ranked as one of R&B’s leading ladies for much of the ’00s — her discography boasts two top 10 albums and the iconic jam “1 Thing” — before getting caught in a label shuffle and losing momentum with subsequent projects. After a break, she resurfaced in 2014 with retro-leaning anthem “What I Want,” but then disappeared again (with the exception of a couple of leaked tracks) until last week.

Happily, the comeback queen finally seems to have her ducks in a row. She is introducing fans to her new sound with free EP Drive, which you can stream below, and will then roll out a second project later this year. It’s a great way to get her name back out there and reacquaint music lovers with her breezy bops and affinity for real instruments and throwback sounds. Fall in love with Ameriie all over again below.
