In advance of his highly-anticipated sophomore album Last Year Was Complicated, Nick Jonas has released a docu-series by the same name – the first episode of which aired on Wednesday (June 1) via Tidal.

Most of the 11-minute episode is spent at Jonas’ winter lodge in Mammoth, California, where he recorded the majority of the album. He hangs out with friend and Kingdom costar Jonathan Tucker, drinks brewskis, snowboards, smokes weed and goes bowling. He also touches on some pretty sensitive topics, including his breakup with ex Olivia Culpo (the inspiration behind the album), the various ways he tried to cope with the heartbreak and his current feelings towards former band, the Jonas Brothers.

“Among friends, I feel uncomfortable speaking about it,” he revealed. ” Because it makes it sound like I’m complaining about something that really was a success story.”

He continued, “There were probably some family issues that needed to be sorted out…At some point I need to be able to look at it with a positive angle. It does suck that my 13 to 20-year-old years come with a lot of regret, almost, in a way.”
