Kanye West’s 2 A.M. Pop-Up Concert Canceled, Chaos Ensues
Chaos broke out in New York City’s East Village early Monday morning (June 6), as some 4,000 fans anxiously waited for Kanye West to take the stage at Webster Hall for a free pop-up show. The surprise gig was set up after West’s highly-anticipated Governor’s Ball performance was cancelled due to inclement weather on Sunday (June 5).
Throughout the night, West and his camp – namely his creative director Virgil Abloh – took to various social media outlets to announce that, in lieu of the Gov Ball show, the rapper would instead make an appearance at Hot 97 Summer Jam and perform a 2 a.m. set at a secret location. Cryptic tweets by Abloh led folks to Webster Hall, but at around 1:45 a.m., the venue ultimately tweeted that there would be no late show and urged everyone to go home.

Shortly after, Kanye was seen on the street parallel to Webster Hall, popping out of the roof of his car, as a stampede ran after the vehicle.

By 2:30, police were brought in to disperse the crowd.
But the madness didn’t stop there. Rumors started floating around with more pop-show locations on Twitter, as Kanye’s company DONDA and producer Mike Dean hinted at shows at the Trump SoHo and SOB’s, both of which were also shut down.

Thanks to everyone. We tried pop up shows at 3 places. All shut down.

Though, all was not totally lost at the end of the night. G.O.O.D Music’s Travis Scott, Pusha T, Desiigner, and 2 Chainz gave a brief performance at SOB’s around 3:15 a.m.
