Despite the rumors, the Backstreet Boys have confirmed that they will not be joining the Spice Girls on a joint tour. The boy band sat down with 103.4 KTU’s Paul “Cubby” Bryant and Carolina Bermudez to announce the news.

“From what I’ve heard, they want to do their own tour,” revealed A.J. McLean. “I think it’s their 20th anniversary, were back in the studio making a brand new album, so everyone’s doing their own thing.”

He continued, “God willing, down the road, maybe it could happen. But as of right now it’s not happening. They’re doing their thing, we’re focusing on our thing. But I think it would be something awesome if it did happen.”

The group also spoke about their upcoming new album, noting that the record will be finished “by the end of the year or beginning of next year.”
