Kacey Musgraves Fires Off Pro-Gun Tweet Following Orlando Mass Shooting & Christina Grimmie Murder
Despite what seemed like her good intentions, country singer Kacey Musgraves came off a bit tone deaf when she reportedly tweeted her wish to “go back to the saloon days where every mutherfucka is carryin a revolver,” following the slaying of singer Christina Grimmie in Orlando on Saturday, June 11, hours before the unrelated mass shooting in the same Florida city at Pulse nightclub.
@KaceyMusgraves you can delete it but we won’t forget what you said. pic.twitter.com/V8J8MngjTQ

The 27-year-old Grammy winner first tweeted that she was crying as she “read about Orlando” and added that she was “feeling sick.” Musgraves then posted the since-deleted “revolver” tweet (it was screen-grabbed by another Twitter user — see above), followed by a couple more thoughts in a bid to clarify.
Crying as I read about Orlando. I can’t believe it. I don’t understand. And especially at such a happy place!? Feeling sick.

Look. Emotions are high today. Mine included. Just hating hate. Lots of opinions in the mix. LOVE is the only true answer. Hard subject tho.

All I know is something isn’t working. Thats all. I love y’all and my true intent is peaceful.

We’ll go out on a limb and suggest Kacey, who recently announced she’s working on a Christmas album, had her heart in the right place. That said, it’s hard to deny that being upbeat about guns in a public forum one day after the worst mass shooting incident in US history seems like a serious case of boot-in-mouth.
