Ansel Elgort, who is probably best known for playing Gus in The Fault In Our Stars, is branching into pop music with the release of debut single “Home Alone.” The 22-year-old made the announcement via Instagram yesterday (July 4). “I’m putting Home Alone up on soundcloud next week with a official release later this month,” he captioned “an emotional piano version” of Shawn Mendes’ new single “Treat You Better.” The double threat then confirmed the news on Twitter today.

It’s clear from his cover of “Treat You Better” that Ansel can hold a tune and he isn’t exactly a stranger to music — touring the world under his EDM pseudonym Ansolo. He even gave Korean fans a first listen to “Home Alone” during a performance a couple of weeks ago and it sounds like a moody, tropical-tinged banger. Listen to a snippet of it below.
