There’s finally a music video for Adam Lambert and Laleh‘s collaborative single “Welcome To The Show” to watch, nearly four month after the song first arrived. The visual premiered via Wonderland today, and along with it came a lengthy explanation of the video from Lambert, who co-directed the clip with Lee Cherry.

Part of Adam’s statement reads as follows:

‘Welcome To The Show is an anthem about facing exactly who you are and OWNING it. Its intended as a mantra to inspire strength and PRIDE. After recording the song a few months ago, I felt very compelled to create a video to further communicate it’s meaning.

I notice such diversity in my audiences when I’m on tour: Young, old, male, female, Trans, Gay, Straight, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, and every beautiful in-between. The common bond is that they are all HUMAN BEINGS. No matter how we identify, the human heart has a universal set of emotions and needs. Sure it’s idealistic, but couldn’t we be recognizing our similarities, instead of our differences? It all comes down to Identity.

When Adam spoke with Idolator in March, he explained that “Welcome To The Show” came about because he felt like releasing a new, non-album song as a surprise for his fans, while he was still touring behind his album The Original High.

“So I talked to Max Martin and he’s like, ‘Yo, we just got this song that Laleh started. You should come listen to it’,” Lambert told us. “So I came over there and she played it for me. Instantly I thought this is something that we can develop together.”
