Jay Sean Signs With Sony, “Make My Love Go” Gets US Release
Are you ready for the second coming of Jay Sean? The British R&B singer has inked a new deal with Sony Music and is hoping to cause some damage on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Make My Love Go.” Produced by Jeremy Skaller, Don Corleon and Rice N’ Peas and featuring a sample of Maxi Priest’s seminal reggae hit “Close To You,” the summery track will impact pop and rhythmic radio on July 12. His new single has already proved to be an international hit, reaching the top 10 in Germany and racking up 30 million streams on Spotify.
Featuring a verse from Sean Paul (it’s a “Do You Remember” reunion!), “Make My Love Go” has all the elements of a radio hit circa 2016 — a clever sample, dancehall vibes and a massive drop. Here’s hoping it’s the start of a major comeback. The 37-year-old was in a three-way battle for urban-pop supremacy with Taio Cruz and Jason Derulo in the late ’00s, but fell victim to the curse of Cash Money Records. Listen to his latest below.
