John Newman And Calvin Harris’ “Olé”: Listen To The (Possible) Taylor Swift Diss Track

On a cool summer breeze, John Newman‘s new single “Olé” has arrived. As noted earlier this week, the reggae-pop song was written and produced by Calvin Harris. So is it a diss on Harris’ ex, Taylor Swift, as TMZ reported yesterday? Let’s see.

The song, lyrically, is written from the perspective of a male, um, side piece who is either reveling in or lamenting (or perhaps a combo of both) the fact that the object of his affection “bring[s] too much sun to my day,” all while taking trips with her actual boyfriend. The first words you hear Newman sing are “low key,” which could be interpreted as a winking reference to actor Tom Hiddleston‘s Thor character Loki. (Hiddleston is, of course, Swift’s current beau, post-Calvin Harris.)

If this interpretation is to be believed, that would lead one to the conclusion that, according to Harris, Swift was having a fling on the side with Hiddleston while still involved with the Scottish producer.

Quite frankly, who cares? Just give the song a listen above and move on. Or play it again. Repeatedly. Olé!
