The Spice Girls have been teasing a reunion for the past year. At one point, the girl power group was to tour with Backstreet Boys. However, their plans have since changed. Ahead of debut single “Wannabe” turning 20 years old today (July 9), the Spice Girls announced splinter group GEM. Its name stands for the three members who are still down to clown: Geri Horner (née Halliwell), Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown.

“We’ve been thinking that we have the best fans in the whole entire world,” the zesty trio say in a video posted to the official Spice Girls website. “You stood by us for 20 years, and we want to say thank you. We’ve had our ups and downs, but you’ve always been there. And we want to celebrate and have a party — and when we do, you’re all invited.”

To be fair, no one expected Victoria Beckham to join in the fun. She has long maintained that she is now focusing on family and her fashion career, not music. But fans are still wondering why Melanie Chisholm decided not to join in. “No more sporty spice? You are done? Why?” a fan asks on Mel C’s Instagram — funnily enough, on a post commemorating “Wannabe”‘s 20-year anniversary.
