Alicia Keys drops sultry, black-and-white "In Common" video. Watch now.

“In Common” is easily Alicia Keys’ best single since 2010’s “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready),” which makes its failure to crack the Billboard Hot 100 somewhat astounding. Produced by Illangelo, the tropical-tinged, afrobeat-influenced track finds the 35-year-old at her most creative and experimental. Perhaps it’s too much of a departure from her signature soul ballads. If that’s the case, it’s a shame because this is a rare example of an established superstar taking real risks.

However, it might be too early to count the song out just yet. Alicia’s judging gig on The Voice is sure to revive interest in her music and new remixes ensure the track is destined for major club play. The latest dance overhaul comes from veteran DJ Kaskade, who puts an elegant electro-house spin on the track without eroding the charm and personality of the original. Listen to the very good remix below.
