Shawn Mendes Debuts New Song “Hold On” Live: Watch
Shawn Mendes debuted a new ballad during his July 15 concert in Boca Raton, Florida.
Reportedly titled “Hold On,” the song has the “Stitches”-uation singing to someone who he wishes will stick around. “I don’t know what you’re going through, but there’s so much life ahead of you,” he sings. “And I won’t slow down no matter what you do, so you just gotta hold on.”
According to one fan account, Shawn wrote “Hold On” about a pal’s father who passed away. @TheMendesSide also says that he exited the stage to regain his composure.
Shawn didn’t say whether “Hold On” appears on his new album Illuminate, out September 23. But the song’s stakes seem just as high as in Illuminate lead single “Treat You Better.” With its video, Shawn refashioned the anthemic pop-rock track into an anti-domestic violence anthem.
