Hillary Clinton Accepts Democratic Nomination, Katy Perry Performs At Convention: Watch
The 2016 Democratic National Convention wrapped at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on day four with performances by Katy Perry and Carole King, and speeches by Chelsea Clinton and — a standout — Khizr Khan, the father of fallen US soldier Captain Humayun Khan, plus, of course the party’s official nominee, former First Lady, Senator and Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton.
Perry performed her new single “Rise” plus her 2013 hit “Roar,” a song Clinton has been using on the campaign trail over the past year. This followed earlier DNC showings this week by Demi Lovato, Paul Simon, Alicia Keys, Andra Day and the Broadway For Orlando singers.
Before the performance, Perry, a loyal Clinton supporter, explained to the crowd that she didn’t finish high school, doesn’t have a formal education and is the daughter of two pastors who are staunch Republicans.
She then said, “But I do have an open mind, and I have a voice. So I’m asking you to use your open mind and to use your voice. Because on November 8th, you’ll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist. You’ll have as much say as any billionaire. Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin’s vote if you’d like.”
