Those “select intimate rare performances” in the States that Rick Astley first hinted at in June have now been announced, and they’re happening next week. Both gigs will serve as showcases for the British pop crooner’s album 50, which recently topped the UK chart and is due out stateside on October 7 via BMG.

Astley will first hit the stage at New York City’s The Box on Wednesday, August 10. He then jets off straight to Los Angeles for a show at West Hollywood’s Troubadour on August 11. The performances will mark the 50-year-old singer’s first in the States since 1989, when he’d racked up hits like “Never Gonna Give You Up,” “Together Forever” and “She Wants To Dance With Me.”

Basically, Rick Astley is much like a rare comet, folks. So if you’ve ever desired to see the man behind the Rickrolling phenomenon in action, now’s your chance.
