Boots Turned Down Working With Britney Spears, Madonna, Frank Ocean & More
Boots first became known as a primary architect behind Beyonce‘s 2013 self-titled album. Since then he has been steadily working, producing for FKA Twigs and Run the Jewels, along with Bey for Lemonade. But he just surprised his followers by revealing what he could have been doing since BEYONCE.
First Boots revealed that he was asked to, but “politely declined” scoring Suicide Squad. Then he named nine pop stars whom he also turned down. The staggering list includes Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Frank Ocean, Kid Ink and Demi Lovato.
While he joked that he was holding out for Missy Elliott on Twitter, Boots clarified that he wasn’t shading the superstars he rejected.
“These are not brags or boasts, but an explanation that doing the biggest shit doesn’t always add up to doing the best shit to me,” he says on Facebook. “That’s just my opinion. In some cases, I wish I could have worked on certain projects but prior commitments stopped me from doing so.
“I am going to continue to work and grow and learn and carve my own path into a place that hasn’t been explored ever before.”

I scored a version of a Suicide Squad trailer earlier this year. it was dope but I had a feeling they were going to go pop music route

I only turned these down because I didn’t connect to these artists or I didn’t have time because I was in the midst of a project. No shade

Just showing a big name/big paycheck isn’t everything. In the case with Frank, I wish it could’ve worked but was already committed to a proj

It has nothing to do with pride or not wanting to work. Just didn’t connect. I’m holding out for @MissyElliott
