Latest Frank Ocean Conspiracy Theory Involves Travi$ Scott & “Technical Difficulties”
As we all know by now, Frank Ocean‘s new album Boys Don’t Cry was expected to drop on Apple Music last Friday (August 5) — the New York Times said so! — but it never materialized. Fans have since noticed that the original due date slip Ocean posted indicates it could be released on November 13, but there’s a new theory circulating…and it has to do with Travi$ Scott‘s new album.
Scott’s Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight was also announced for an exclusive Apple Music release on August 5, which also never happened. But in an Instagram post last night Scott explained due to “technical difficulties” the release was pushed back a week, to August 12. NME points out that Ocean fans on Reddit looking for an answer, any answer, wonder if those same technical difficulties also derailed Frank’s Apple-exclusive release. And if you buy that logic, then it means his album will be out this Friday as well.
Seems flimsy. It seems more likely that Scott’s “technical difficulties” were a cover by someone in his camp who decided it would be wiser to hold off on the release until the (expected) Frank Ocean release day chaos subsided. Now that Boys Don’t Cry appears to be set for November, Scott is free to drop his LP this Friday without going up against one of the most anticipated albums of the decade.
That’s my hunch, anyway. Let us know yours in the comments.
