Back in February, we asked readers who should headline the Super Bowl 51 halftime show. Britney Spears won by a landslide, because it’s Britney, bitch, though other contenders (Queen featuring Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez) seemed perfectly likely to be offered the gig.

Nowhere on that poll, though, was Adele. Yet according to The Sun, that is precisely who execs hope to land for halftime.

“There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organizers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up,” an NFL “source” tells The Sun. “She’s sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers.

“It’s Adele’s nerves that are the issue — it hasn’t been an easy sell.”

If anything, this rumor is believable because it references Adele having stage fright. The 25 singer-songwriter famously ruled out performing Glastonbury last year because she found that “the crowds are too big,” only to dominate the festival this past summer.

The Sun also reports that OneRepublic could be joining Adele on stage, so that she could team once again with the group’s frontman and songwriter Ryan Tedder. Ryan helped write “Rumour Has It” and contributed to Adele’s latest blockbuster album 25.
