Lady Gaga Auditions For 'A Star Is Born'
Lady Gaga has auditioned for the long-planned remake of 'A Star Is Born.'

It’s official! Lady Gaga will star in the long-planned remake of A Star Is Born. (Previous versions starred Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland). The directorial debut of actor Bradley Cooper has been green lit by Warner Bros with filming to begin in California next year. According to Deadline, Mother Monster will also compose music for the film. Interestingly, Beyonce signed on to play the role way back in 2011 but dropped out when (original director) Clint Eastwood left the project.

For those unfamiliar with earlier versions, Gaga will play a fresh-faced ingenue who rises to the top while her lover/mentor falls on hard times. Those films contained then-contemporary music, so the 30-year-old will have free reign with the soundtrack. It will be interesting to see if filming obligations interfere with the rollout of her new album. We already know she’s planning a sequel to Cheek To Cheek, so 2017 is going to be her busiest year to date.

For reference, here’s Barbra in the last remake of A Star Is Born:
