Taylor Swift has given $1 million dollars to the victims of the recent Louisiana flood after a storm brought over 20 inches of rain to the region, leaving about 40,000 homes impacted and 11 people killed according to the New York Times.

“We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home,” Swift told the AP. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”

She continued, “I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time.”

Some 60,000 have registered to receive aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. What’s more, Louisiana officials say that, as of Tuesday (August 16), 30,000 people have been rescued.
