DJ Snake was feeling generous last night (August 22) and shared a snippet of Selena Gomez’s demo of “Let Me Love You.” Of course, the downtempo dance anthem was released with Justin Bieber’s vocals — making the leaked version something of a curiosity. Particularly after the Instagram exchange between the former lovebirds that resulted in the frequently-nude pop star deleting his account. Who sounded better? The snippet is way too short and LQ to judge.

The more interesting question is why did Selena demo the song at all? It’s unclear if she was offered it first (and turned it down) or it was part of a planned duet that was scrapped for being too messy. Hopefully, the French producer will eventually explain the situation. In any case, the song is a hit. “Let Me Love You” is exploding at pop radio and recently rebounded into the top 10 on iTunes. It’s also the fourth most-streamed song on Spotify this week. Listen to Sel’s take on it below.
