Did Lil Wayne Just Announce His Retirement?
Lil Wayne has been talking of retiring from hip-hop since 2014, when he was talking his album Tha Carter V. But the hip-hop innovator hints that he is actually done for good. “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful,” he says on Twitter earlier today (September 3). “I luh my fanz but I’m dun. ain’t looking for sympathy, just serenity.”
“get Birdman on the phone,” Rick Ross said, when a fan proposed that he bring Wayne to his label Maybach Music Group. Just now, however, Wayne downplayed what he said before. “I’m good y’all,” he says. “don’t trip.”
When Weezy first talked of leaving the rap game, he was working on two albums. This year he appeared in Ariana Grande‘s Dangerous Woman and a collaborative project with 2 Chainz titled Collegrove. He appears to have been as productive as ever. What has changed, though, is his now-estranged relationship with label boss Birdman. Wayne has attempted to sue him several times, not only for interfering with Tha Carter V‘s release, but withholding money from him.
