Mariah Carey Talks New LP, Possible Weeknd Collab In TV Interview
Mariah Carey sat down with Mario Lopez yesterday (September 6) to discuss her upcoming reality show, Mariah’s World, and casually shared some information about her new album. “Right now I’m making new music and getting ready to go on a Latin American tour, so it’s like all these things I don’t really talk about because I’m not like Queen of Promotion,” the 46-year-old said. “[I can’t wait to] get these new songs out and get on the road and reveal them, darling!” The enduring diva’s Latin American tour kicks off in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 28, so we could be hearing something new within months.
When quizzed about a possible collaboration with The Weeknd (she hung out with the hitmaker in July), Mimi expressed enthusiasm for the idea. “Well, it’s not planned out but I know he’s doing a lot right now, so we had a really good conversation… we’ll see,” she said. “I think he’s a really talented artist.” The only known collaborator at this point is long-time producer Jermaine Dupri, so it will be interesting to see if Mariah mixes it up by working with new people. Hopefully, we’ll find out more when her reality show debuts on December 4.
