Demi Lovato To Replace Selena Gomez At 2016 Global Citizen Festival

Just a week after Selena Gomez announced her break from touring, Demi Lovato has revealed that she will be replacing Gomez at the forthcoming 2016 Global Citizens Festival. Lovato – who is currently on tour with Nick Jonas – expressed her excitement in a statement to People magazine.

“The Global Citizen Festival combines music and activism in a way that inspires and affects millions around the world,” the Confident singer told the publication.”I am proud to support this amazing organization’s ongoing efforts to improve global healthcare and to end extreme poverty.”

Lovato joins the likes of Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Metallica and Major Lazer in headlining the show, which will include special appearances by Usher, Ellie Goulding and more. The event will take place in New York City’s Central Park on September 24 at 3 p.m. EST. It will also be broadcasted live on MSNBC and available to stream on YouTube and MSNBC.com.
