Chet Faker and Flume went for a splash together and shared a pic on Instagram.

So long, Chet Faker! The Australian singer/producer announced that he will no longer be releasing music under that moniker. “Its been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since,” the “Gold” hitmaker tweeted this afternoon (September 8). “Theres an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where its going. The next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy. Chet Faker will always be a part of the music. This is next.” So, there you have it.

The 28-year-old first made waves with Flume collaboration “Drop The Game” in 2013, before earning rave reviews and an ever-growing following with debut LP, Built On Glass. That opus delivered viral hits “Gold,” “1998” (a song that was later rereleased with BANKS) and “Bend.” The last we heard from the man formerly known as Chet was 2015 EP, Work — a collaborative effort with English DJ Marcus Marr. He’s been plugging away at his sophomore LP ever since, so hopefully something new will arrive before the end of the year. See his announcement below.
