Frank Ocean Prepping ‘Blonde’ Physical Release
Frank Ocean‘s Blonde has slowly but surely been revealing itself in the weeks since its release. Yesterday (September 14), many of the songwriting credits and samples emerged, and now Billboard reports Ocean is prepping a physical release. The only physical release thus far was limited to the CD version included with the Boys Don’t Cry zines handed out on release day.
Specifically, he’s said to be seeking out a distribution deal for the album (since he pulled a fast one on Def Jam/UMG by releasing it independently, no such deal is in place) “that can take the album beyond its iTunes/Apple Music exclusive.” Meaning, they want the new deal to handle both physical distro and deals across the board for streaming services.
Still, without such a deal in place, it has tallied 292,000 digital sales and nearly 124 million streams, and is available on Spotify.
