Katy Tiz Interview
Katy Tiz talks catchy new single "Whistle (While You Work It)" & cracking America.

Vanic first made waves in 2013 when his unofficial remix of Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” went viral. The Vancouver DJ soon established himself as the maestro of sonic makeovers — racking up tens of millions of streams with overhauls of Major Lazer’s “Be Together” and Tove Stryke’s “Borderline,” among others. He’s now ready to unleash his first original track. Featuring the feisty pipes of Katy Tiz, “Samurai” is a ferocious banger with a massive drop influenced by sounds of the orient.

“I don’t wanna be here no more, I’m falling through the cracks in my floor,” the UK pop star declares at the beginning of the song. “I’m fading, don’t hate me now.” It all quite emotional and intense, but the mood shifts when we arrive at the soaring chorus. “‘Samurai’ has been in the works for a while, it’s a mix of classic Vanic sounds and a more modern/future style I’ve been inspired by lately,” the DJ says of the floorfiller. “Really excited to release this one!” It’s also nice to hear something new from Katy, who has been quiet since dropping “Whistle (While You Work It)” last year.
