There’s no love lost between Calvin Harris and whomever it is he repeatedly laments “you were the one thing in my way” to in his brand new dance-pop single “My Way,” a follow-up to spring/summer smash “This Is What You Came For.” The Scottish producer did go through a bit of a high-profile breakup earlier this year that you might have heard something about, so make of these lyrics what you will.
Those who were playing the guessing game with trying to figure out who the featured vocalist is in the lead-up to the release of “My Way” may be a tad surprised to find that Harris himself takes on singing chores this time around. But let’s not forget that for his first two albums — i.e. in the pre-“We Found Love” days — it was Calvin’s pipes you mainly heard on his material.
Like “This Is What You Came For,” “My Way” relies on a simple musical hook and repetitious lyrics to pull the listener in. If it ain’t broke…
