Kat DeLuna Announces New Single “Waves”

Kat DeLuna is making up for lost time! After years of setbacks, the club-conquering diva has been unusually prolific in 2016. She dropped a compilation LP called Loading in August as well as a Japan-only single (“Forever”) and an upbeat collaboration with Faydee (“Nobody”). The latter has racked up 2 million+ views in less than two weeks. The 28-year-old is hoping to capitalize on that moment with “Waves” — the lead single from her third LP, Viva Out Loud. The track drops on Friday (September 23).

After exploring dance-pop on 2010 LP Inside Out, Kat took some time out to reevaluate her sound. She returned in 2015 with sexy slow jam “Bum Bum,” which sampled Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” and interpolated Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me.” The fiery pop star then back it up with Jeremih-assisted banger “What A Night” (a riff on The Four Seasons’ hit) earlier this year. It will be interesting to see if she continues to explore urban beats on “Waves” or returns to the Latin/dancehall-tinged sound of signature bangers “Whine Up” and “Drop It Low.” See her announcement below.
