RuPaul Talks 'Born Naked' & La Toya Jackson
We speak to RuPaul about his fabulous 'Born Naked' LP & La Toya Jackson duet.

The second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is underway and a gaggle of seasoned queens are fighting (literally, in some episodes) to become the next drag superstar. That demands wit, wigs and a Britney Spears-like appreciation for lip-syncing. It also helps if you are willing to try anything once — including a music career. While no contestant, past or present, has come close to snatching Ru’s drag-pop crown, the show has produced more than its fair share budding divas. And this year’s crop has been unusually productive on the music front.

Where to start? Well, it’s hard to beat Alaska’s “Puppet.” From the beauty pageant-on-acid video to the questionable lyrics (“show up to the gate lookin’ sick, duct tape residue on my dick”), this is DDM (drag dance music) at its most demented. Detox takes a more traditional (?) approach to sultry club banger “Supersonic,” while Tatianna sing/talks her way through trap-tastic bop “The Same Parts.” If vocal prowess is your thing, look no further than Adore Delano. The former American Idol contestant shows off his full range on “I.C.U.” — a moody, Limp Bizkit-esque anthem.

That takes us to Ginger Minj, who is releasing an album called Sweet T on October 1. A quick glance at the tracklist reveals that she has tackled Divine’s seminal “You Think You’re A Man.” Last and probably least is Phi Phi O’Hara. The Drag Race villain dropped an electronic ballad called “Play” earlier this week, but it’s a snooze. Catch up on your drag-pop by listening to the songs above and below. Now when is RuPaul going to bless us with the follow up to Butch Queen?
