An Update On Kelly Rowland's Fifth LP
Kelly Rowland's fifth album is slowly taking shape and could well drop in 2016.

After spending the last few months focussing on BET talent show Chasing Destiny and resulting girl group June’s Diary, Kelly Rowland is finally concentrating on her own music career. The 35-year-old, who features on Solange’s imminent A Seat At The Table LP, serves high fashion and even higher hair for Schön! Magazine and gives a hint at her new sound in the accompanying interview. “I’m so happy I met David [Guetta] because he put EDM in my blood,” she reveals. “It’s a part of my freedom when I’m on stage… so it will definitely be a part of the record — abso-fucking-lutely.”

That’s pretty emphatic and confirms statements she made in an interview way back in January. “I’ve recorded 45 songs to be completely honest, the challenge for me right now is solidifying like exactly what sound that is, I have three different sounds on the table,” the Destiny’s Child diva told ABC Radio. One of those sounds is EDM. “It’s definitely more R&B and to the core of even the dance music, it’s still soul and that’s the core of who I am, is my soul, and I always want that to come across,” she explained (somewhat confusingly).

So basically we’re getting a bunch of dance anthems with a soulful vocal (think “When Love Takes Over” and “Commander”) and a bunch of mid-tempo R&B tracks (“Motivation” and “Kisses Down Low”) for urban radio. Bring it!
