The 1975 Are Returning With New Music In 2017

The first half of 2016 was loaded with chatter about The 1975. The British band’s sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, was a genre-hopping Nu Romantic opus that debuted at No. 1 and was good enough to sway the haters, but since then the pop world has moved on to other things. Such is the way of the streaming age. But the band has apparently moved on, too, because new music from Matt Healy and friends is coming next year.

The frontman teased new material in a self-explanatory tweet Thursday afternoon (September 29).

Considering how wide-ranging their latest album was, it’ll be tough to forecast the direction of the new material. As for guessing the format, well, Healy recently told Billboard “I’m always making an album.”
