Swedish Pop Alert: “Daylight” Is ALVA’s Third Great Single In A Row

Sweden does pop better. I’m pretty sure that’s written in the bible somewhere, but I’d have to check the verse. From Robyn to Zara Larsson, the country churns out more pop stars than impossible-to-assemble furniture. The latest Swede worthy of your attention is the lovely ALVA. She made waves earlier this year with debut single “Let Her Go” and backed it up with the equally great “Rule You,” but you might already know her voice from Adrian Lux’s club smash “Damaged.”

She made it three from three on Friday (October 7) with “Daylight,” an emotional tune she wrote after being woken up by an earthquake in Los Angeles. “In the summer nights we were running away from whatever life could do to us,” ALVA sings powerfully over guitar and brooding synths. “Take me to the daylight just leave the lights on, wait for me at night time ’cause I won’t go alone.
