Charli XCX’s “After The Afterparty”: Preview Her New Single
Look out — new music by Charli XCX may be coming any day now. An ad for Freeform TV’s 13 Nights of Halloween features a snippet of “After the Afterparty,” her upcoming single featuring Atlanta kiddie rapper Lil Yachty. And based on this sneak peek, this new song may be Charli XCX’s most straightforward yet. With its sparkling synths and peppy chants, this preview is as cheery as pop gets.
Of course, that was exactly what Charli XCX wants of her new music. “I want to make the best pop album of 2017,” she told The FADER in a recent cover story. Charli’s new record is produced by SOPHIE and Stargate, and reflects the years she has spent writing unapologetically mainstream pop hits for the likes of Icona Pop (“I Love It”) Iggy Azalea (“Fancy”) and Selena Gomez (“Same Old Love”).
