Nicki Minaj Talks Lauryn Hill And Her Forthcoming Collaboration With Fetty Wap

Fresh off her Tidal X: 1015 performance, Nicki Minaj sat down with The Breakfast Club to speak about her various forthcoming projects, including her (temporarily postponed) TV show and impending album. But the rapper also couldn’t help but talk about meeting her idol Lauryn Hill at the TIDAL show, which she said was a “surreal moment.”

“I couldn’t control myself,” Minaj revealed. “I was at a loss for words, and she was super sweet and gracious, and I was not expecting that. She was in the room right next to me the whole time, and I was kind of nervous to even run into her in the hallway. Then all of a sudden, I literally said the words, ‘Do y’all realize my idol is right there?’ and within 30 seconds of saying that, she walked into my room.”

Excuse me while I have an outer body experience. Shaking, crying, a MESS!!!! 😩 this lady is the reason. Omg. The QUEEN. Goddess! The epitome! The bar! The *faints*. Ms Lauryn Hill told me to keep “spittin dat fire”. Is this real life!???? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Minaj also showed support for up-and-coming rappers and teased her upcoming collaboration with Fetty Wap.

“Shout out to all the women coming up that are paying attention to lyrics,” she said.  “I love a lot of the new guys, too. I feel like they’re super fun. I love Lil Uzi, I love the melodies. I love Fetty. I did something with Fetty that’s gonna come out soon that I think is super dope.”
