‘Watch The Throne 2’ Isn’t Happening Because Kanye Is Beefing With Jay Z Now

There’s trouble in paradise. During his Saint Pablo stop in Seattle last night (October 19), Kanye West took a minute to air a bunch of grievances he has with his pal Jay Z, telling the crowd that they should stop expecting a sequel to Watch The Throne. And it’s mostly due to the politics of streaming.

As you may remember, when Drake first shared “Pop Style,” it was credited as a feature with Kanye and Jay. However, Jay only appeared on the track for about two seconds, and when the album was eventually released on Apple Music, both features were excised. According to West’s rant last night, this was due to “some Tidal-Apple bullshit” and because Jay didn’t want to disrespect his Roc Nation bro Meek Mill by appearing on a Drake album.

“There will never be a Watch The Throne 2. You know why? That’s the reason I wasn’t on the song. I wasn’t on the song because of Hov,” Kanye explained about “Pop Style.” Y’all didn’t get what y’all was supposed to get, with me and Drake on this song, because of some Tidal-Apple bullshit.” He went on to blame it all on “some Tidal, some political shit, some shit about percentages.”

According to Vulture, West was also ticked that after Kim Kardashian‘s Paris robbery, Jay called to check on them instead of stopping by the house.

Their friendship has been on the rocks before and they’ve always managed to patch things up, so let’s not rule out any future collabs just yet.
