For his latest coup, James Corden got Cher to come onto The Late Late Show on Thursday (October 20) night to chat a bit and perform a parody cover of “I Got You Babe” called “I Got You Bae.” The updated rendition of the ’60s Sonny & Cher hit found the two singing about the joys of swiping, sexting, Internet porn and sending nude photos.

When James and Cher sat down to chat, the Donald Trump-bashing diva explained that she didn’t think “I Got You Babe” was going to be a hit when Sonny first played it to her on the piano. Likewise, she wasn’t too thrilled about “If I Could Turn Back Time” the first time she heard it.

“Because Diane Warren did the demo,” Cher explained. “It was terrible! And I love her. As much as I love her, it was just… And then finally she said, ‘I’ll pay for it’. And if you know Diane Warren, that’s a big thing. I said, ‘Okay, babe. If you’re gonna pay for it, you have to believe in it so much, and I’ll do it’.”

Tickets for Cher’s just-announced 2017 Classic Cher residencies in Las Vegas and the Washington D.C. area go on sale this weekend. Watch her on The Late Late Show above.
