A Lorde Album Update: It's Coming
Lorde reminded fans that you can't rush magic in a length Instagram comment.

While Lorde is being refreshingly miserly with information about her sophomore LP, most of us assumed she was still working with Joel Little. However, the Pure Heroine producer confirmed that he’s not involved in a new interview with the NZ Herald. “We wrote together, but I’m not producing the record,” he revealed. “This time I’m coming at it more as a fan than being super involved. I’m excited to see what she’s working on.” Can the Kiwi hitmaker elaborate?

“I’m sure she’ll play it [to me] before anyone hears it,” Joel explained. “I’ve heard a lot, we’ve worked on it a lot. She’s trying to do something different as well [and] working with other producers is a part of that, and so I haven’t heard any finished [songs] or any of that stuff.” This fits in with an update Lorde gave an impatient fan on Instagram earlier this year: “I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork.”

“The record is written, we’re in the production stages now,” the 19-year-old continued. “I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys.” It will be interesting to learn who is producing the record, but chances are we won’t find out until it’s available to pre-order on iTunes. Which is kind of great.
