Gaga's "Come To Mama" Demo
Father John Misty shared his demo of the 'Joanne' track to celebrate the album's release.

Lady Gaga performed songs off Joanne during the October 22 episode of Saturday Night Live, doing her damnedest to sell that new album’s pop country transformation.

At first, Gaga was totally at ease. She sang rollicking revenge fantasy “A-YO” with a thick twang, swiveling her hips atop a table as if imagining herself (once again) at some honkytonk, before she joined Joanne co-producer Mark Ronson and other backing guitarists on bass. But the grit in her voice all but disappeared for “Million Reasons.” While perched on top of an upright piano, clasping her now-signature wide-brimmed pink hat to her body, Gaga was as theatrical as ever, approaching the Joanne track more so like Diane Warren power ballad.

There’s this saying about how you can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl. For as much fun as she seems to be having with this new direction, Gaga showed on SNL that she isn’t one of those girls.
