Ricky Reed Comes Full Circle With “Express Myself”
Ricky Reed comes full circle with surprise single “Express Myself.” The LA-based hitmaker first made waves as the face of Wallpaper and then stepped behind the boards to produce tracks for other artists — crafting a string of smash hits including Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty,” Pitbull’s “Fireball” and Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too.” He returned to the artist fold last week, but this feels more like a rebirth than a resumption. While Wallpaper specialized in party music, Ricky Reed has a lot more to say.
“I’ve spent my last few years helping other artists tell their stories,” the Nice Life boss says. “The truth is, I’ve had a pretty wild run since 2013 with ocean-floor lows and incredible highs. I made a last minute decision to throw this one out to the people who have been feeling the same: caught in a rut and needing to shake it off.” And Ricky has obviously touched a nerve with the song racking up 100,000+ streams on Spotify in its first week. Listen to the artist/producer’s uplifting and relatable “Express Myself” below.
