Alicia Keys unveils a 20-minute short film inspired by 'Here' track "The Gospel."

Alicia Keys had a surprise in store for The Tonight Show. Last night (November 4) the Voice mentor appeared to perform “Blended Family,” a tender ballad off her sixth album Here. But instead of featured rapper A$AP Rocky, newcomer Young M.A. appeared — her first major guest appearance as New York’s brightest new hip-hop star.

Taking cues from Alicia’s own verses to Swizz Beatz‘s kids from his previous marriage, Young M.A. rapped about her brother from another father, literally. “Fresh kicks for the summer, I would crease them and scuff them /  Goose coat for the winter with a new pair of butters,” she spits, “He treated me like I was his / single mother, no daddy, that’s just how we live.”

Below, see Alicia Keys perform “Blended Family” and talk enlisting The Voice contestant with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon. (Questlove of house band the Roots also gifts her Krispy Kreme doughnuts, though she didn’t seem to remember why he would do such a thing, which is only slightly less awkward that, well, the subject of blended families.)
