Shakira & Maluma Take Us Behind The Scenes Of “Chantaje”
Shakira and Maluma have a smash on their hands with “Chantaje.” The infectious banger, which is the first taste of the enduring diva’s 11th LP, reached number one on iTunes in 16 countries and gave the duo another chart-topper on Billboard’s Latin chart. To celebrate, the genetically-blessed Colombians show us how the song came together in the studio via a fascinating behind-the-scene video. The clip begins with the collaborators riffing off each other, trying out different phrasings and lyrics.
They then joke about copying Argentine duo Pimpinela (Shakira wonders how Maluma knows the ’80s hitmakers given that he was born in 1994) and groove to their handiwork. It’s an interesting insight into the making of a hit. Next up for the superstars is the video, which was recently filmed in Barcelona, Spain with director Juame De La Iguana. Given the pair’s phenomenal YouTube popularity on YouTube, it’s sure to be a blockbuster affair. Watch the full BTS video in Spanish below.
