Sean Paul And Dua Lipa’s “No Lie” Is Highly Addictive & Sounds Like “Puttin’ On The Ritz”
Sean Paul teased his Dua Lipa collaboration “No Lie” earlier this week, and as it turns out the song is quite a jam. Paul is, of course, on a roll in 2016, having topped both the US chart, via a feature on Sia‘s “Cheap Thrills,” and the UK chart (this very week, actually), by way of hopping on Clean Bandit‘s “Rockabye.” Naturally it’s now time for the Jamaican rapper/crooner to springboard off these successes and make an attempt at his first major impact as a lead artist in 10 years.
“No Lie” is a step in the right direction. Here Sean wisely enlists rising London songbird Dua, who’s already currently making waves across the globe thanks to potent firecracker “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” for chorus duties. With “No Lie,” she opts to slightly mirror the melody of Irving Berlin‘s classic standard “Puttin’ On The Ritz” — which pretty much ticks the “addictive hook” box in bold.
That’s not to discount Paul’s own vocals, though. With “No Lie,” he finally has the space to deftly switch back and forth between rapping and singing once again — something we haven’t been privy to on his recent features.
