Barbra Streisand Makes Chart History
Barbra Streisand makes chart history with Encore, her duet-filled concept album.

Barbra Streisand has still got it! The 74-year-old shows off her famous pins on the cover of W Magazine, wearing a white businessmen’s shirt and little else. (She remembered to bring a jacket and tie, but forgot about the pants). It’s another reminder, if you needed it, that the enduring diva is forever. Need more proof? The pop icon made chart history earlier this year when her 35th LP, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, reached number one on the Billboard 200. She’s the only artist to have chart-toppers in six consecutive decades.

Not that Babs spoke about her achievements in the accompanying interview. Instead, she spoke about more interesting things like her penchant for playing strong women. “Strong women are, simply, women with opinions,” the “Evergreen” songstress explains. “And they have always been treated with suspicion. Look at Hillary Clinton. And, sadly, the strong women usually don’t get the guy at the end of the film. The last movie I directed was The Mirror Has Two Faces, and one of the reasons I took the job was because she got the guy at the end.”
