The cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Hamilton had choice words for Mike Pence last night (November 18), for a even more political turn than most attendees were expecting. The vice president elect caught the Broadway show, though was booed when he took his seat. Once the show ended, the cast shushed even more booing as they addressed Mike Pence personally.

“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” said Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”

Pence was on his way out, but stopped in the hallway to hear Dixon’s remarks, according to The New York Times. President-elect Donald Trump chimed in on Twitter, saying that Pence was “harassed” and demanding an apology from the Hamilton cast. “conversation is not harassment sir,” Dixon replied. “And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.”
