The xx Hits The Road
The xx announced a 2017 European tour for its third album 'I See You' — see the dates.

The xx debuted “I Dare You” and performed “On Hold,” off its upcoming third album I See You, during the November 19 episode of Saturday Night Live.

This was the pop-electronic outfit testing out its new sound live. “We wanted to open the windows and be like, let’s try completely new things, let’s get out of our comfort zones — which, as more introverted people, our comfort zone is quite a small place,” guitarist-singer Romy Madley Croft said on Beats 1 Radio. She also talked of how Jamie xx‘s solo debut In Colour opened the band up to making music to which people could actually dance.

Granted, the xx aren’t Beyonce or anything. Romy and Jamie’s idea of dancing, as shown during “On Hold,” is gently swaying while carefully walking toward each other on stage. But the warmth and optimism radiating from the xx’s new music is also tough to resist, “I Dare You,” in particular, is upbeat while just as alluring as the band’s past, more spare material. Watch the xx take over SNL below.
